Books about Alaska that everyone should read:
Native Lives
- Shadows on the Koyukuk by Sidney Huntington

- Raising Ourselves by Velma Wallis
- Two Old Women by Velma Wallis
- Minuk: Ashes in the Pathway by Kirkpatrick Hill
Great Adventures
- Alaska's Wolf Man by Jim Rearden
Resources for finding/using Alaska literature
- Alaska Native Knowledge Network article on "Honoring Alaska's Indigenous Literature" by Jennie McLean. This article refers directly to the book Toughboy and Sister by Kirkpatrick Hill. McLean poses many questions to use when evaluating literature for bias, stereotypyes and cultural slurs. I could not find any other references to "Indigenous Literature" on the website, and could only find this article through a Google search on Toughboy and Sister so I thought I would share the link. Maybe others have more resources to share.
